Freeman’s | Hindman’s Coins, Medals and Banknotes department handles coins, currency, and stamps, including American and world coins, rare currency, paper money, and exonumia. Coins and paper money are sold in dedicated sales throughout the year.
Highlights of previous sales within the department include the single- owner sale from the estate of Scott E. Strahan which achieved over a million dollars for the collection and included a high-grade 1907 Saint Gaudens High-Relief: Wire Edge $20 Gold Coin among other rarities of American $20 Gold Coins. The regularly scheduled various-owner sales foster competitive bidding and strong results including a low-mintage 1908-S Indian Head $5 Gold Coin that sold for over $9,000. Stamps also feature prominently within the department including a single-owner sale of philatelic rarities that included the previously unaccounted for Position #79 of the famous 1928 24-Cent Airmail Inverted Jenny stamp which achieved a price of $301,000.
